About
Built by gearheads, for gearheads.
Gear Head Box started in a two-car garage in Charlotte at 2 AM, somewhere between a sticky valve cover and a cold beer. The premise was stupidly simple: most subscription boxes are landfill-grade, dropshipped junk wrapped in vibes. We wanted the opposite — a monthly box of stuff a guy with a built Miata or a project E30 would actually want.
What we do
Every month, our team — career mechanics, weekend racers, and one ex-OEM product engineer — picks 4 to 8 items per tier. Tools, apparel, detailing supplies, gadgets, garage essentials. Each box's items always add up to more than what you paid. That's the deal. It's our model: we make our money on volume, not on you.
What we don't do
- We don't drop-ship. Every item passes through our warehouse, gets inspected, gets photographed.
- We don't run on algorithms. Curation is humans-only. If we wouldn't put it in our own garage, it doesn't go in your box.
- We don't lock you in. Cancel, skip, swap, pause — all one click. No fees. No are you sure? dialogs.
Three tiers
Pit Stop ($54) is the starter. Stickers, towels, small consumables, fun monthly drops. Apex ($84) is the sweet spot — apparel, real tools, premium detailing items. Podium ($119) is the flex tier with one $60+ hero item every month: driving gloves, helmet bags, racing-branded jackets, GoPro mount kits. Pick the one that fits your garage and your budget.
Why we exist
The midlife-crisis years are supposed to be the fun ones. You finally have the space, the money, and (sometimes) the time. The last thing you need is more inbox spam pretending to know what you want. We built Gear Head Box to be the one thing in your monthly subscription stack you actually look forward to.
Welcome to the box.

Three principles
-
We don't drop-ship
Every item passes through our warehouse. It gets inspected, photographed, and packed by a person — not a fulfillment robot in a country whose name you can't pronounce.
-
We don't run on algorithms
Curation is humans only. Our team has career mechanics, weekend racers, and one ex-OEM product engineer. If we wouldn't put it in our own garage, it doesn't go in your box.
-
We don't lock you in
Cancel, skip, swap, pause — all one click. No fees. No "are you sure?" dialogs. The whole point is monthly fun, not a trap.
What a Tuesday looks like
By 8 AM, three people are at the warehouse pulling the next month's items. Tools from a local supplier in Greensboro. Apparel printed by a friend in Asheville. Detailing supplies from a chemist in California who races on weekends.
Everything gets unboxed, inspected, photographed, and packed. Quality control flags anything that doesn't pass — wrong stitching, sketchy chrome, off-color print. Those go back. The rest goes in your box.
Boxes ship the 15th. Then we do it all again.
